Brewer Not in Madrid

(Boston) – Senator Stephen M. Brewer (D-Barre) is pleased to announce today, with no tears in his eyes, that he is home safe in Barre, despite a report from a viral email that went out to hundreds of recipients earlier this week.

The false email states that Brewer was mugged at gun point and robbed of all cash and credit cards while in Madrid and is in need of 2,000 Euro to settle an outstanding hotel bill or he will be unable to return home.

As Spain battles a spike in their nation’s debt, rising borrowing costs and high unemployment rates, they may wish they could keep the Chair of the Senate Committee on Ways and Means in their corner.  Since Brewer took over the helm of the committee, Massachusetts has seen a boost to its rainy day fund and has achieved the highest bond rating in the state’s history.

Brewer did not, however, take a holiday to the third largest city in Europe this week and instead spent his time touring the Worcester, Hampden, Hampshire and Franklin Senate district celebrating Independence Day with his constituents.
